Vision Statement for First Nation Public Libraries

Public libraries provide an essential service to First Nation Communities. Our Chiefs and Councils lead our communities in recognizing and supporting our public libraries as vital contributors to growth and change. With current and culturally relevant collections and services, First Nation public libraries welcome all community members and support their needs for access to info, personal empowerment and self-affirmation. In partnership with other community programs, our public libraries contribute to our social and economic well being by nurturing our spirits, preserving our traditions, cultures and languages, and encouraging lifelong learning and literacy.

For all ages! Native content, children's literature, romance, mystery, fiction, health, science, encyclopedia's, research materials, and much more!

Magazines & Newspapers

Browse through the newspapers and magazines. Up-to-date news and information in the library, at home, or on a computer. Browse through aboriginal newspapers or a variety of family and fashion magazines.

History

We have a growing history collection with a focus on Alderville First Nation and Ojibwa people.

Interlibrary Loan

If you cannot find what you are looking for in our collection, we can borrow books from other libraries.

Library Weekly Events!

We host a weekly Story hour Wednesday’s mornings 10:00 am to 11:00 a.m. for children 6 years and under. We have stories, craft and a snack. Everyone welcome! There is no story hour during the summer.

How to Join

Your library membership is free if you are a resident of Alderville. Non-residents (area residents) pay a yearly fee of $10.00.
