The Alderville Learning Centre has numerous resources and services to help you identify your employment path/goals and will work with you in reaching those those goals.

As of January 2007, the Alderville Learning Centre will be streamed under the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities: Employment Ontario.  This is a transfer agreement between Service Canada and Ontario for employment assistance services. 

 

Services include:

Client intake and case management.
Return to Work Action Plan development.
Employment Counselling
Aptitude, career, and personal assessments: GATB, COII, Myers Briggs, CAAT, True Colours, Life Skills, Employability Skills, Career Decision Making System, and more.  Guiding Circles:  Aboriginal guide to finding career paths - Books 1 & 2
Job Search Resources, Resume and cover letter assistance, portfolio development, interview preparation.   
Labour market information, training information, business information.
Information, referral, and support for a variety of employment programs - upgrading, training, work placements, co-ops, business start-up, apprenticeship, and more.

Employment information specific to aboriginal people and services available.

The Self-Employment Benefit program helps eligible unemployed people develop and implement plans to start their own businesses.
The Targeted Wage Subsidy program connects employees and employers by offering employers a wage subsidy to hire eligible unemployed people facing barriers to employment.
The Skills Development program helps eligible unemployed people obtain the marketable skills they need to secure employment.
The Job Creation Partnerships program provides work experience to eligible unemployed people. Projects are developed by businesses or community groups or other levels of government to increase the participants chances of successfully establishing long term employment.
